State Testing Poster

Every year the older grades take SOL tests. We try to get the kiddos pumped up and excited to take these tests. One of the things my school does is buddy up. Then we create encouraging posters for our buddies and post them throughout the school.  My students have 5th grade reading buddies, so we created a poster for them!

My favorite book is the Hunger Games so I decided to go with a Hunger Games theme. My Kindergarteners obviously didn't understand the book reference, but they did not care at all. They were so excited to make something for their buddies. They told me they wanted to make a bunch of posters for them, but for now, we are sticking with just one.

I started out by downloading the Hunger Games font from the internet. I printed and cut out all of the letters we were going to need.

Then I had the kiddos help me glue the letters down and make sure we had enough room to glue our mockingjays.

The kiddos colored their own mockingjay and then we glued them to the poster as well.

They were extremely excited with the final result of the poster! We hung it up and they can't wait for their buddies to see what they created!
